Director Yunus Emre Enstitüsü Jakarta Dr. Cemal Sahin: Their Enthusiasm Makes Us Enthusiastic Too

On Sunday (18/2/2024) the students of Pondok Pesantren Daar el-Qolam 3 Dza ‘Izza Campus had the opportunity to visit Yunus Emre Enstitüsü Jakarta, an official Turkish government institution which operates in the field of Turkish language and culture. This institution is located at The Pine View Residence, Jl.  Bintaro Taman Timur, South Jakarta, and is the main branch in Indonesia.

This visit was carried out in commemoration of five centuries of friendship between Indonesia and Ottoman Turkey, which was held in the form of an archival exhibition of Ottoman and Indonesian correspondence entitled “Beş Asırda Osmanlı-Endonezya Dostluğu Arşiv Belgeleri Tarih Sergisi”. In this exhibition, Yunus Emre Enstitüsü published letters of friendship from the Ottoman Turks to Indonesia, during the Ottoman Caliphate.

Director Yunus Emre Enstitüsü Dr. Cemal Sahin said that Yunus Emre Enstitüsü is a Turkish cultural center institution spread across eighty-five countries. Its main mission is to introduce Turkish culture, including the Turkish language.

“We teach Turkish all over the world,” said Dr. Jamal when interviewed on Sunday (8/2/2024) at Yunus Emre Enstitüsü Jakarta.

“In each country we also carry out cultural activities such as exhibitions, Turkish kitchen workshops, Turkish painting, and others. This year we have started in Indonesia. Insha’Allah, every year we will increase the number of activities,” he said in fluent Indonesian.

Dr. Cemal revealed that Yunus Emre Enstitüsü has many collaborative partners, including Indonesian government institutions. Apart from that, there is also collaboration with educational institutions, including Pondok Pesantren Daar el-Qolam 3, Dza ‘Izza Campus. He also expressed his own impression when the students of Daar el-Qolam 3 Dza ‘Izza Campus visited the institution he leads.

“I see that the enthusiasm of the students is very high from Daar el-Qolam 3. They look very neat, their targets have all been programmed, that also makes us enthusiastic. Their enthusiasm makes us enthusiastic too. So I thank Daar el-Qolam 3 have come here, visited our place. We thank you,” said Dr.  Cemal.

Dr. Cemal invited the teachers who accompanied the visit and invited them to have a friendly chat in his office.  He shared stories about Turkish language, traditions and culture. Dr. Cemal seemed happy with the presence of teachers and students at Pondok Pesantren Daar el-Qolam 3, Dza ‘Izza Campus and hoped that further collaboration would be held.
